The Short Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is a condensed version of the classic ABC trek, perfect for those with limited time but a desire to experience the magnificent Annapurna range. Typically ranging from 5 to 7 days of actual trekking, it offers breathtaking mountain views, diverse landscapes, and a glimpse into local culture.
The trek primarily focuses on getting you to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m / 13,549 ft) and back quickly, often starting and ending with drives from Pokhara. The trail winds through varied terrain, from lush subtropical forests to alpine meadows and dramatic glacial landscapes.
Annapurna Base Camp, trekkers are enveloped in a magnificent amphitheater of peaks, offering unparalleled close-up views of some of the Himalayas’ most iconic mountains. Dominating the panorama is Annapurna I (8,091m/26,545ft), the tenth highest mountain in the world, with its imposing south face towering directly above. Alongside it, Annapurna South (7,219m/23,684ft) stands prominently, while the distinctive Machhapuchhre, or Fishtail Mountain (6,993m/22,943ft), is also a constant and captivating presence, especially as you approach its own base camp. Adding to the grandeur are peaks like Hiunchuli (6,441m/21,132ft), Gangapurna (7,455m/24,459ft), and other parts of the Annapurna massif including Annapurna III (7,555m/24,787ft) and Annapurna IV (7,525m/24,688ft). Further contributing to the breathtaking scene are peaks such as Tent Peak (Tharpu Chuli) (5,663m/18,580ft), Singu Chuli (Fluted Peak) (6,501m/21,329ft), and Gandharva Chuli (6,248m/20,499ft), all combining to create a truly unforgettable 360-degree mountain experience.
